‘Home education’ means a purposeful programme of education for a learner, alternative to school attendance, which:-
(a) is provided under the direction of the learner’s parent, primarily in the environment of the learner’s home;
(b) may include tutorial or other educational support, if necessary, secured by the parent on specific areas of the curriculum followed by the learner; and
(c) meets the requirements for home education contemplated in section 51 of this Act;
Note: Submission of the application form does not imply that the learner is registered with Provincial Department of Education.

After your child has been registered for Home Education you must keep the following:-:-

1. Record of attendance
That is in line with the education programme or curriculum followed by the learner. - 2. Record of attendance.
- 3. Portfolio of the child’s work.
- 4. Up- to- date records of the child’s progress.
- 5. Portfolio of the educational support given to the child.
- 6. Evidence of the continuous assessment of the child’s work.
- 7. Evidence of the assessment and or examination at the end of each year.

8. Evidence at the end of grade 3,6 and 9.
That shows whether your child has achieved the outcomes for these grades.
